A while back I asked for suggestions for a new nickname for my littlest man-- aka Chunky-Monkey. After much thought, hem-hawwing and such, dh and I have decided the baby will now be called Dozer.
It's such a fitting name-- really it is! Our almost 1.5 year old little guy climbs everything, loves to roll around in the dirt, scoot chairs and other obstacles around, and can wrestle (er, wrastle) with the best of 'em! When he sees dh on the floor, he'll run up and jump right on top of him while making the oh-so-appropriate "Ugh!" sounds.
My merry band of little men is now composed of Dash, Tank and Dozer. Much thanks to Amberleoda for coming up with the name! (e-mail me your address and I'll send you something special...ssshhhh...it's a secret).
Speaking of Dozer... The other day the boys were all playing outside and I was sitting on the swing watching them. They were jumping, running, sliding and climbing...it was the perfect day for them! I look up and I see Dozer walking towards me with his blue eyes shining, a big semi-toothed grin and his little fist held out in front of him...
What could this little man be bringing me? His brothers are always bringing me flowers and weeds and pretty rocks... Hmmmm...I wonder what is making him sooo happy? He gets real close to me and waits for me to hold out my hand. Like a true gift of love and affection, he gently lays his gift in the palm of my hand...a big, giant handful of...dirt! He was sooo proud of himself and lifted up his little face to receive his well-deserved reward of a kiss. He gave me one more grin for the road and was off again.
Honestly, I wanted to save that precious little handful of dirt forever-- it was one of the sweetest, cutest things ever! If you could just see the expression on his face as he started walking towards me and how he purposefully deposited that gift right in the palm of my hand.
These days are precious and I never thought I'd see the day where the days really do fly by so fast!
Tomorrow morning, three other mom's and all of our kids are going camping for the week. There will be 4 mom's, no dad's, and at least 19 children. I think we're a wee bit outnumbered. Needless to say, I'll be out of commission at least until Wednesday. If I, I mean Dozer, holds up well enough we'll stay until Friday. It should be lots of fun! Campfires, fishing, bike riding, hiking and sleeping in a tent with my merry band of little men to protect me! They are uber-excited! And the best part is that I don't have to do all the work of cooking, cleaning and keeping up with the kids all by myself. :-)
I'll let you know if I catch any fish, especially if they are bigger than the ones found in Lake Curry.
Love,
Marshie

Sounds like a blast! And 76 degrees, ahhhhhh. Sounds wonderful. I am waiting for spring to hit. We've had a few warmer days here but should be cold again in no time.
How was your trip to the museum? or did I miss your comments about it. Do you mind if I stick you on my friends list-i enjoy reading your blogs.
About Math-U-See...I was told that a lot of the work comes from the teachers manuels-how do you get by without using them I thought most of the story problems came from there and some extra vital material? Or at least that's what I heard. Will you comtinue using it? How do you like the new set of materials-Alpha, Omega, etc. Do you know what would go with a 4th/5th grader? I was on their website before and didn't find it very helpful. Someone gave me 2 videos for Intro. and the Fundamentals...and the workbooks for both to see-oh and the tapes with skip counting-I really like those. I just got multiplication rap but like the skip counting better. Although Ihave no idea what that "chipmunk" voice thing is all about-I can hardly understand what they are saying.
well have a blessed and safe week-
Camping with NO Dads! WoW!!!
I enjoy camping, but my dh does so much of the "real" work, I don't know that I even know how to do it myself. Sounds like great fun though!
Enjoy it!
Of when Bee was about a year old or more, and there was this field of dandelions that were all blooming. Bee picked this dead, dead, already-seeded and windblown dandelion with the biggest grin on his face. I scrapbooked the pictures of him walking towards me and kept the flower. It was the most beautiful I have ever received!
Wow! I don't think I could do that without DH. He's been talking about camping in our backyard in the summer. Last time he mentioned it I said I would enjoy my time by myself in the house! We had planned to camp on our trek across the US, but the weather was awful (late October) in the NorthWet where we came from, and then the kids got sick, and the truck moving our stuff was going faster than we were and we had to be here to get it through Customs, so we didn't camp.
The backyard would be okay if the neighbourhood skunks didn't keep using it as their nightly pathway.
Anyway, have fun! Will miss your blog in the meantime, but will be anxious to read all about it when you get back.
Love,
Karen
are you out of your mind!? i mean, that sounds like fun. blah, blick, bleck. i hate camping. i'm a country girl but i love my bed and clean sheets and bathroom facilities!
i love the name dozer!
camping with 19 kids...WOW. You deserve a medal or something. Or at least a couple nights at a really great spa, after that.
Dirt story is priceless. I could feel a bit of my heart tugging at similar remembrances of precious gifts of God's earth...frogs, lizards, gravel...it's truly priceless!

How are you? Been staying busy here helping my mom and dad move.
So, when are you coming to TN. Just let me know! Would be glad to see you again. We've been having beautiful weather.
Have a great week.

Amy Beth <><
That is so sweet of you to offer me a prize for naming your little man! But I honestly didn't suggest the name to see if I would win. I just think he looks like a bulldozer! A cute one at that! I am flattered that you chose Dozer.
I hope you have a blast camping this week. Just don't forget the bug spray! You know them bugs are gonna be waiting for ya!
Amber
Have fun camping. I'm hoping we will get to go camping this summer. I can't wait to hear about it. :-D
Love,
Amy Beth <><
I hope ya'll catch something. The first time I ever went fishing was in TX, it was in a small bay off the Gulf. I kept catching these little fish that looked liked mini sharks except I can't remember the name of them. If you know, tell me, I'll remember if I hear the name again.
BTW, you and your DH look adorable together on your wonderful vacation. Thanks for sharing the pictures with us.
God Bless,
Amber
Oh... and I'm not talking to you right now cuz the weather is nice enough for you to go camping... some of us are miserable and looking at snow!!!!!!

Have fun dear... tell the other mom's about Missey and celebrate loving your kids together!!!

Wow! No dads and 19 kids! Whewy, good luck! I love the new nickname for your littleman. I don't have any for mine, I gave them both cyber names though.
My Superman who is 5 is always finding "Treasures" aka trash on the ground outside and giving them to me to hold and save for him. I usually just end up throwing them all away and always feel so sad after but I just don't know what else to do with them. But I saw a cute idea in a magazine where they had jars all on a shelf and some of them were labed "------- Treasures" and were filled with little nick nack things. I am going to start doing this with all the wonderful things my little men give me!
Joyfully in Him,
Kelli
Oh my goodness, you are so much braver than I am! I'm not a camping person anyway, but camping with small children? That's down-right terrifying, in my opinion! You have to come back and tell us how it goes...I want details! :o)
Oh.. camping. Wow! Yeah -- we did that a few times. i don't think I really liked it. There was a LOT of work involved and there was bugs, and dirt and no showers. Umm.. please let me know how wonderful it is for you. I do hope you enjoy it. Everyone else I know does fdkjhfaskdhfadkf It's just me. : )
Blessings,
Maria
So, I posted about my day today... wasn't exactly what I'd planned, but I learned an important lesson. Please stop by and SHARE and Tell how it went for you.
Blessings,
Amy
And I thought taking that many children shopping would be adventurous!! 'Hope that you'all have a wonderful time camping!!
I suppose you could keep the dirt in a small flower pot and plant something in it (add more dirt if necessary)? That is so sweet.
Dozer, that IS cute. I just call Anna, Anna...I started out without intention of using her name, but since I go by MommyOAnna....it is kinda obvious LOL. I keep wondering what on earth I would change my name to if ever blessed with any other "littles". :D
that is SO very sweet. and I wish you would just come fishing over here. our boys would have a blast!
Like that...Dozer!
Have fun on your camping trip. I'm sure
you'll have plenty of blog worthy
stories to share and I'm looking forward to
reading them!
Hi Marsha,
I enjoy your blog. I too have 3 little boys- 6, 4 and 2. I live in Tennessee and have been getting acquainted with the Sevier County crew. My husband is from TX (Brownsville), and we met when I moved to Fort Worth. I miss it!
I'll check your blog often!
Jennifer
My 3 boys are 7.5, 4 and 1. As my littlest grows my heart gets sad. Every time he does a more grown up thing I kiss him on his neck and cuddle him snuggly, and tell him he does not have my permission to grow up. :-(
I hope you enjoyed the camping. I haven't been brave enough yet although we are gradually getting together some great equipment.
Jen in Tasmania, Australia
did you get lost in the woods? let's hear about that fun trip!
Bring Dozer and the Fun Crew out here again soon. Between me and Jen, we got 10 kids for them to play with. Throw in Amy Beth and Annemarie's kids, my word, we have a fun zoo. Hurry up, what are you waiting for?

How did it go? Did you survive the many children?
Looking forward to hearing about it.
Karen
Dozer is a VERY cute nickname! I hope you had a great week of camping. I've been in the mood to go camping lately. The weather has just been gorgeous. We've decided we are going to go camping at the beginning of April for my son's birthday. : ) Let us know how it went!
