While returning books to the library today, I actually took a second to look at the library carts of books for sale on the sidewalk (something I never do with 3 rowdy ones in tow). But today, right in front of me (without even searching) were the following hardback books:
- Mirette on the High Wire by Emily Arnold McCully
- Nate the Great and the Crunchy Christmas
- Good Night, Gorilla
- Come Play With Me
- Amelia Bedelia and the Surprise Shower
- Come Back, Amelia Bedelia
- Curious George at the Laundromat
- The Story of Ferdinand by Munro Leaf
- Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs by Wanda Gag
Okay, so some of these books are "better" than others but they were all a steal at only 50 cents each! I think I'll send my older sis the Amelia Bedelia ones...that was always here fav when we were little...although we didn't quite "get" why some of the things she did were considered "wrong" (i.e. dusting the furniture, dressing the turkey, putting out the lights, etc-- at the time, her way made perfect sense to us!).
Did y'all have any fav books when you were little? If so, have you read them to your kids yet?

I don't like to shop, but books sing their siren call to me. If I go to the thrift store, I come home with some good kid books. I went to my first library sale last summer. The ease of ordering books online can be dangerous for me. Congrats on your great finds! Enjoy!
I love great library fins like that :) ... one of my favorite books when I was little was "The Giant Jam Sandwich" and I love to read that one to my DD ... it brings back great childhood memories. I also used to love to read "The Very Hungry Caterpillar". When I think about books I loved it reminds me that even as a child I had such a love of the library ... which hasn't diminished a bit :)

I had SO many favorite books when I was little. I have shared some of them with my kids - including E.B. White's books (Trumpet of the Swan & Charlotte's Web are my favorites), Where the Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak, the Dr. Seuss books, and many others.
Yep - I had lots of favorite books! One of my favorites was "Hurry up, Slow Poke". I still have that book and read it to my children when they were young. I also loved the Little House books and have the whole set from my childhood. Of course, having boys the only book they would even consider reading was "Farmer Boy" and it was not a big hit. *sigh* I loved the Cat in the Hat books and my youngest still collects them. He has all mine from when I was little and has picked up others through the years. I think he has all the books now. How wonderful you found such great books! Don't you love the library sales? My favorite!!
I would love those books. :)
I was just thinking "it would be nice if she would give those Amelia books to me".
What a great sissy.
Love ya.
I found this cool box of books i read ALOT as a child in my parents basement....it's called the Dandelion Library and we got it from our aunt who got it in the late '60's...very cool "flip books" that had one story on one side of the book and another story on the other....things like Peter Pan (not the Disney version...but not the Origianl either), Heidi, old russian folktales, grimms fairy tales, dutch folktales...really fun stuff...we've been reading those in reading time cause they have alot of pictures for norah and chole but alot of text to keep amanda involved...also i snaggged the cuckoo clock and a few others and have been having the girls listen to TLTWATW unabridged on CD in the CAr...well before it broke at least....
